Smile for Ice Cream!

There are plenty of reasons to smile but nothing brings out a smile faster than ice cream on a hot summer day! Edy’s is one of our favorite ice creams and lately, we have become fans of their Slow Churned flavors too. Well you know how we don’t like anything low-fat in this house. Our philosophy has always been, that we’d rather do without than eat artificially sweetened and low-fat foods. Everyone in this house claim … Read entire article »

Hickory Farms Blog Tour

I received this Party Planner Gift Box for the Hickory Farms Blog Tour from Mom Central. It contains three varieties of summer sausage a variety of cheeses, crackers and sweet hot and cranberry flavored mustards. Just the perfect size for a sumptuous snack spread for a small party. I must confess, my girls immediately tore into this package since it arrived fortuitously around the time that they get home from school and they are usually ravenous. The love Hickory Farms summer sausages! I actually buy them occasionally so they have something handy to snack on. So there was little chance that this box would sit around unopened for long. We usually get at least one Hickory farms gift basket during the holidays and they are always a welcome treat. I’m sure you’ve … Read entire article »

Give Hope With Every Cup

October is the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month to support the cause for finding a cure for this cancer. Every year, more than 290,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. It is the most common cancer among women in the United States and it is the second leading cause of cancer death in women. In 2010, according to the American Cancer Society’s estimate, 39,840 women died from breast cancer. Although the number is lower than from previous years, that is still a staggering number. To keep the number of deaths on a downward slide, Breast Cancer Awareness Month reminds us that the fight is far from over; to keep us aware, keep us educated and empower us. Many organizations, as you may have noticed, are supporting this cause and Dannon is … Read entire article »

The Avocado League Blog Tour

I have been searching for inspiration for an original avocado recipe since I got notice for the Avocado League Blog Tour. But really, how original can one get with an ingredient that, in my opinion, is best consumed fresh and uncooked? I truly love avocado in all it’s fresh glory. I just can’t imagine subjecting its natural freshness and unctuousness to heat. It just seems so against nature. So for the “Big Hit” Contest and Avocado League Blog Tour, I offer two very simple recipes that showcases the natural goodness of the avocado. One of the requirements for this contest to to feature, along with the avocado, something that embodies the spirit of their hometown. Well it’s kind of hard for me to pinpoint my hometown since I am a California … Read entire article »
